Please read these Terms. By accessing or using trivolivia, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site or app.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use trivolivia. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian should review these Terms with you.
Local play and optional social features
Core trivia play does not require an account. Learning progress is generally stored on your device, and you are responsible for maintaining your device and any backups you choose to make.
Challenges, Braintrusts, submission-gated anonymous answer distributions, and player-created channels use an optional pseudonymous social identity. It is not a conventional account: we do not ask for an email address or password, and we may be unable to restore it if the secret credential stored on your device is lost. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and credential and for activity performed through it.
Personal-use license
Subject to these Terms, trivolivia grants you a limited, revocable, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to access and use trivolivia for personal, noncommercial learning and entertainment. This is permission to use the product, not a sale or transfer of ownership.
Ownership and intellectual property
trivolivia’s original software, question wording, explanations, artwork, mascot, interface, branding, and creative selection and arrangement of content are owned by trivolivia or used with permission and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
trivolivia does not claim ownership of facts, public-domain material, third-party trademarks, or third-party source material. Links and citations identify sources; they do not imply sponsorship or ownership.
Your names and channel descriptions
You keep any rights you have in a display name, Braintrust name, channel name, or channel description you submit. You give trivolivia a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, display, format, and distribute that material only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, promote, and improve the feature in which you submitted it. This license ends when the material is deleted from active systems, except for copies another user made, de-identified records, reasonable backups, and uses already completed.
You represent that you have the right to submit this material and that it does not violate another person’s rights or these Terms. Do not submit a real name or personal information unless you understand the relevant social surface may display it to members, link recipients, or the public as described in the Privacy Policy.
Sharing and visibility
Challenge, Braintrust, and channel URLs are designed to be shared. A challenge link can expose the challenger’s display name and limited challenge metadata; a valid Braintrust invite lets its holder request membership; and player-created channel profiles are public. Once another person copies, forwards, screenshots, or republishes information, trivolivia cannot control that copy.
Challenge access expires after 14 days. A Braintrust invite expires after seven days and can end sooner if its owner replaces it, ownership transfers and rotates it, or the group closes. A full group will reject another member, but an otherwise valid invite may work again if a seat becomes available before expiration. Group and channel availability may also change. These controls reduce access through trivolivia but cannot retract copies already shared elsewhere.
Acceptable use
You may not, except where applicable law expressly permits:
- reproduce, republish, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit substantial portions of trivolivia;
- systematically scrape, harvest, or extract the question library, explanations, artwork, or other protected content;
- remove or obscure copyright, trademark, attribution, or legal notices;
- use automation to create identities, inflate answer distributions or response counts, manipulate standings, evade rate limits, or place unreasonable load on the service;
- share another person’s secret credential or private invite without permission, attempt to access a Braintrust you were not invited to join, or bypass comparison and membership controls;
- submit material that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, deceptive, defamatory, invasive of privacy, infringing, malicious, or designed to impersonate another person;
- interfere with the site, introduce malicious code, probe for vulnerabilities without authorization, or use the service unlawfully; or
- misrepresent an affiliation with or endorsement by trivolivia.
Community administration
trivolivia has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive conduct in social play. We screen guest-published text, provide in-app reporting and blocking controls, promptly investigate reports, remove confirmed objectionable content, and suspend or terminate social identities responsible for abuse. We may also preserve submitted material for an investigation; rotate or disable links; limit requests; or restrict a feature when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect people or the service, comply with law, or address intellectual-property and safety reports. Automated screening and user reports do not mean that we can monitor every name, description, invitation, or interaction before it appears.
Report abuse, impersonation, privacy concerns, or infringement to trivolivia with the relevant public link and enough context to evaluate the report. Do not send a secret credential unless support specifically requests a limited verification step.
Educational content and sources
trivolivia is for general learning and entertainment, not professional, medical, legal, financial, or safety advice. We aim to use reliable sources, but facts, links, and interpretations can be incomplete, outdated, or mistaken. You should verify important information with current primary or professional sources.
Third-party websites have their own terms and privacy practices. trivolivia is not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
Scores, statistics, and group summaries
Social results are accepted only for recent Daily editions and are checked against the published question manifest. Even so, network failures, software defects, corrected content, misuse, or later deletion can make a score, distribution, streak, crown, comparison, or recap delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. These features are for informal learning and entertainment; they are not official rankings, prizes, wagering outcomes, or proof of knowledge or identity.
Third-party services
trivolivia relies on third-party hosting. Topic Sprint accepts only exact entries from a reviewed general-audience catalog: unsupported input is rejected on the device, and only the canonical reviewed topic may be sent to Wikimedia. Returned source text is screened before use, but source links, system share sheets, app stores, and shared links can still open third-party services. Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services. trivolivia is not responsible for third-party content, security, availability, or conduct.
Availability and changes
We may change, rate-limit, suspend, or discontinue features or content and may correct or retract questions at any time. We do not promise uninterrupted or permanent availability. Locally stored learning data may be lost if app or browser storage is cleared, becomes incompatible, or is unavailable. Social data may be unavailable if you lose your credential or if a record, invite, edition, or service expires or is removed.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, trivolivia is provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties, including warranties of accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and noninfringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, trivolivia will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, opportunity, profits, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of or inability to use trivolivia. Liability that cannot lawfully be excluded remains limited to the minimum amount required by law.
Termination
You may stop using trivolivia at any time and can request deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your permission to use some or all social features if you materially violate these Terms or create risk for people or the service. Provisions concerning ownership, licenses already exercised, disclaimers, limits of liability, and other terms that by their nature should survive will continue to apply.
Changes and severability
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and changing the effective date. Your continued use after a revision becomes effective means you accept the revised Terms. If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
